DEAR EDITOR,
I write in relation to the editorial carried in Kaieteur News of June 05, 2008.
The responses by most Caribbean countries for their treatment of Guyanese have been varying, but are along the lines that Guyanese are migrating to their countries and will put pressure on their small social system; are taking employment away from their citizens; and are introducing serious crimes – robberies and murders – to their countries.
The negative inferences go on, with most saying that the effect of the Guyanese is having, and will continue to have negative impacts of their orderly societies.
Well then maybe the time has come for CARICOM Heads of States to look at the reason why Guyanese are fleeing their country to theirs and start to get involved in the issues which are debilitating and choking off development in Guyana, such as bad governance, African marginalisation, corruption, nepotism and inept policies.
