Let those responsible be humiliated for this mess
I read with anger the Kaieteur News article about Globe Trust. Please allow me space in your newspaper to express my profound disappointment, dissatisfaction and disgust at the (previous) board of directors of Globe Trust and Investment Ltd (GTICL) for allowing the hard earned money of my daughter and all the other sons and daughters to be misused or stolen.
These people should hang their head in shame to know that the monies squandered are monies that poor people worked very hard for, so that they can give their children a sound education. It is a fact that poor people cannot afford to take out huge amounts of money on a one time basis or lump sum to fund their children’s education.
So they save for this purpose by putting aside a little at a time, not expecting these vultures would grab it all at once.
I remember once my daughter told me “dad, buy me a computer with the money”, and I replied “no baby this is for your future”, not realising others were preying on it.
I am sure that these people that cause this dilemma has their children enrolled in the best schools and universities, and must be smiling and telling people of their achievement. I wonder how they are feeling deep down in their hearts when they reflect that the education their children are receiving is funded by money from the poor.
I am a poor father who has toiled for long hours just to make sure that my daughter get if not the best, a reasonable education, so I saved every penny possible to make this happen.
One day I woke up to read that all that has gone. Imagine how I felt that day.
I know other poor parents felt the same way that I did. I am sure that myself and those parents like me have lost hope in getting back our hard earned money.
However, I have not lost hope in the almighty and I am positive that the same way we were made to suffer for our losses, those backstabbers will suffer for their deeds.
I will be glad if the government or whoever is in authority can publish the names of those who have borrowed and did not pay back; also the names of those incompetent people at GTICL who contributed to this mess. Let them for once be humiliated for their actions.
