Waramuri Top Girls, Bartica Boys crowned new champions
2023 ExxonMobil Boys and Girls U14 Championships…
Kaieteur Sports – It was a fitting end to the fourth edition of the Petra-organised ExxonMobil Boys and Girls Under-14 Championships, yesterday, as Waramuri Top females and Bartica males produced marvelous performances to become the new champions.
In the Girls’ Division, Waramuri Top tangled with President’s College in the finale which saw the former tactfully emerge victorious, 4 – 1.
The Boys’ finale was intriguingly contested between Waramuri Top and the eventual victor, Bartica, but the day was ruled by the latter, who navigated to a comfortable 4 – 0 triumph.
Those landmark wins brought bragging rights as Waramuri Top Girls claimed the Championship Trophy and the $300,000 School Project Initiative while the same accolades were bestowed upon the Boys Champion, Bartica.
The runners-up, Waramuri Top Boys and President’s College Girls, were each rewarded $150,000 for a School Project along with the runner-up trophy.

In yesterday’s third-place place showdowns, Bartica sank Tucville 3 – 0 in the Girls’ Division while Bush Lot stood firm against New Central High to win 5 – 3 in the Boys’ Division. The third-place finishers each received a $75,000 School Project Initiative and the corresponding silverware while the fourth-place finishers both claimed a $50,000 School Project Initiative as well as the respective trophy.
For the remainder of the placement matches in the Girls’ Division, Marian Academy secured fifth-place with a 3 – 0 result over New Central High while Ann’s Grove defeated Charlestown 2 – 0 to peg the seventh-place spot.
Meanwhile, Christianburg/Wismar ended the tournament in fifth when they defeated Westminster 2 – 0 after Chase’s Academic Foundation secured seventh-place with a walkover from Patentia.
Bartica are all smiles as they celebrate becoming the 2023 ExxonMobil Under-14 Boys Champion.
Waramuri Top Girls also swept the individual awards as Aaliyah Henry won the MVP accolade, Mechelle Williams was the Highest Goal Scorer, Devanie Thomas was adjudged the Best Goalkeeper and the team claimed the Most Disciplined Team award.
In the Boys’ Division, Bush Lot claimed the Most Disciplined Team award while Bartica dominated the rest of individual awards; Zico De Santos was the Best Goalkeeper while Riley Tracey copped both the MVP and Highest Goal Scorer accolades.
This tournament was sponsored by ExxonMobil Guyana, organised by the Petra Organisation, sanctioned by the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) with support from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL), Guyana Shore Base Inc. (GYSBI) and MVP Sports.
