Ramcharran (121), Legay (5-28) inspire Apollo Sports Club to victory
Kaieteur Sports – Sharaz Ramcharran stroked an authoritative 121 and left-arm orthodox spinner Dennis Legay grabbed five wickets for 28 runs to help Apollo Sports Club whipped Jazba Cricket Club by 147 runs last Saturday at Keele Top, North York, Toronto.
Apollo Sport Club have got three wins now from as many matches since the commencement of this year’s Canadian Commonwealth Cricket Association of Toronto 40-overs competition.
Sharaz Ramcharran
Ramcharran hit seven fours and three sixes to see his team piled on a formidable 264-6 from the 40-overs while he returned with the ball snaring 4 wickets to support Legay as Jazba Cricket Club tumbled out for 117 in the 25th over.
The right-handed Ramcharran, a former Guyana youth player, occupied the crease for 119 balls while he received impressive support from Ian John with 43 and Kandasammy Surujnarine who made 41. Seamer Manpreet Singh took 2-40 from seven overs.
When Jazba Cricket Club batted, Omar Nooristani scored a fighting 40 and Dwight Nelson with 25. They two started the chase with a promising 56-run stand but once they were separated, things went downhill. Legay, another ex-Guyana Under-19 cricketer also, delivered 7.1 overs while Ramcharran bowled 5 off-spin overs conceding 13 runs.
Apollo Sports Club will be back in action on June 18th against Cricket Club of Canada but this time at Norfinch venue. Jazba Cricket Club will confront Team Tigers Saturday at Keele Top again.
Meanwhile, 14 teams are currently participating. Melbourne Sports Club is defending champion.
