Kaieteur Sports – The Massy Distribution Under-18 Secondary Schools Football Tournament delivered another electrifying day of action on Saturday at the Queen’s College ground, as the third round edged closer to its dramatic conclusion.
Charlestown Secondary stamped their authority with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Good Hope Secondary in one of the day’s standout encounters. After an early breakthrough in the 15th minute from Nicholas Nieuelder, who expertly turned and fired into the back of the net; Charlestown looked poised for control. But Good Hope clawed their way back before halftime, with Standford Glen burying a powerful free kick to level the scores at 1-1.
The second half saw Charlestown dig deep, and Adion Marks emerged as the hero, slicing through the defence in the 50th minute to restore his side’s lead. Despite a late surge from Good Hope, Charlestown held firm to secure a crucial win and strengthen their push toward qualification.
Meanwhile, West Ruimveldt Secondary continued their relentless march through the tournament, brushing aside Zeeburg Secondary 2-0 for their third consecutive victory. Dellon Philladelphia lit up the early stages with a stunning fourth-minute strike, setting the tone for a dominant display. Defensive discipline ensured West Ruimveldt rarely looked threatened, and Donovan Welcome sealed the deal with a decisive second-half finish, keeping his side perfect with nine points from three matches.

Patentia Secondary also maintained their unbeaten run with a composed 2-1 win over Anna Regina Secondary. Goals from Malachi Hunte and Gerony Wells were enough to secure back-to-back victories, keeping Patentia firmly in the hunt.
In an unlikely occurrence, a wave of walkovers saw Yarrokabra, East Ruimveldt, Lodge, Brickdam, and Dolphin Secondary all collect maximum points without kicking a ball—an unusual twist that reshaped the standings.
Thursday’s lone fixture saw Santa Rosa Secondary deliver a statement performance, demolishing West Demerara Secondary 7-0 to continue their impressive campaign.
With the third round set to wrap up today at the same Queen’s College venue, the race for qualification is intensifying as teams battle for every point.
The tournament, sponsored by Massy Distribution with support from the Ministry of Education and Demerara Mutual Group, continues to showcase the next generation of football talent, delivering excitement at every turn.
