(Kaieteur News) – A 56-year-old man of no fixed place of abode was on Tuesday night fatally stabbed during an altercation at Leopold and Cross Streets, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown.
The deceased has been identified as Michael Dazzell.
According to the Guyana Police Force, the incident occurred around 19:30hrs.
It was reported that Dazzell was standing in an alleyway on the eastern side of Cross Street, when the suspect who was riding a bicycle on the roadway got involved in a confrontation with Dazzell.
During the conflict, the suspect allegedly armed himself with a pair of scissors and stabbed Dazzell several times about his body.
The injured man reportedly ran through the alleyway before collapsing.
Emergency Medical Technicians were summoned, and a doctor from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation later pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigators recovered a pair of scissors believed to be the weapon, along with a pair of pants bearing suspected blood stains, from a residence linked to the suspect. A black pedal cycle was also found at the location. However, the suspect is yet to be apprehended.
Dazzell’s body is currently at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
