(Kaieteur News) – Matthew Ramlochhand, the Soesdyke-Linden Highway miner who was killed at Barakat Landing, Cuyuni River, died from a perforated heart and lungs due to two incised wounds.
A post-mortem (PME) examination was conducted on Ramlochand’s body on Wednesday by Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
The body has since been handed over to relatives for burial.
On January 17, Kaieteur News reported that the suspect in connection to the murder at Barakat Landing was arrested on Friday by police.
Police in a statement said that 27-year-old Ramlochand was killed on January 11, 2026, at Barakat Landing. The pork-knocker was reportedly stabbed by a 38-year-old miner of Half Mile, Wismar, Linden. He was told of the allegation and arrested.
“Two Venezuelan nationals, both females aged 37 and 27 years respectively, who were present at the location, were also arrested,” police said. Investigations revealed that the stabbing incident involved Ramlochand and his brother.
“Inquiries revealed that the two brothers, who are employed as pork knockers in the area, became involved in a heated altercation with another male at the landing during the evening hours,” police said.
It was reported that during the altercation, the suspect armed himself with a pair of scissors, dealing both siblings several stabs about their bodies and made good his escape.
