(Kaieteur News) – An elderly man has been arrested for the alleged murder of his wife at Ogle, East Coast Demerara, police have reported.
Dead is Lackandai Tamessar, 89, a pensioner of Ogle Airstrip Road, East Coast Demerara. Police said her murder is believed to have occurred between Friday December 26, 2025 about 16:00hrs and Tuesday December 30, 2025 about 13:00hrs at the said address.
Investigation revealed that Lackandai was last seen alive on December 26, 2025 by a relative who visited her. However, on December 30, 2025 the same relative returned and discovered her lying motionless with what appeared to be stab wounds about her body.
The body was escorted to the Plaisance Health Center where it was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty and was subsequently taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home where it awaits a post-mortem examination. The woman’s 88-year-old husband who was present at the location at the time, was arrested and placed in custody assisting with the investigation. Investigations are ongoing.
