(Kaieteur News) – Police in Regional Division # 10 are investigating the discovery of a suspected rifle and ammunition during an intelligence-led operation conducted on Tuesday at 77 Miles, Unamco Road, Region # 10.
During the operation, ranks conducted searches in the area and found several camp sites, which prompted further checks that led to the discovery of a suspected RF-15 rifle with a magazine containing thirty (30) .223 live rounds in a hammock in one of the camps. No persons were seen in the area at the time.
The firearm and ammunition were taken to the Mackenzie Police Station where they were lodged pending investigation. No arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing.
