Dear Editor,
President Irfan Ali should know this is nothing to smile about. The president’s globetrotting has never caused him to see communities in Dubai and other countries he visited without water.
Foulis located on the East Coast Demerara has been out of potable water for twenty five years. The PPP has turned a blind eye to the plight of the people in that village.
What President Ali does to feign a solution to poverty in Guyana is to visit depressed communities such as Tiger Bay and cook food for the poor.
Guyana is thriving because of oil wealth and the president, his ministers, friends and family live luxurious lives; throwing up mansions and driving luxury vehicles while the people of Foulis, Tiger Bay and other communities across Guyana face the worst form of destitution.
The BBC, CNN and other global news entities should visit poverty-stricken areas in Guyana and show the world ‘Ali’s hell’.
While a large percentage of Guyanese live below the poverty line, the PPP government is reluctant not only to give the people of Guyana cash grant but also refuses to use the oil wealth to improve the day to day lives of Guyanese citizens.
Guyana’s population is way below nine hundred thousand and in what is touted as the fastest growing economy in the world, privileged women in the PPP are more concerned with self-beautification than use their time to fight poverty and alleviate the suffering of young women and others. While President Ali tries to impress upon the world that Guyana is thriving, countless Guyanese face the horror of poverty and nothingness worst that how hurricane Melissa left the island of Jamaica. Jamaica will speedily deal with their crisis while the poor in Guyana will see no opportunity for change over the next five years.
The story of Foulis is a stark reminder of how cruel, inhumane and wicked the Ali regime is … and there is no indication that it will change.
THE WORLD MUST KNOW.
Sincerely,
Norman Browne
