Kaieteur News – Two persons are in police custody assisting with the investigations into the death of 28-year-old Christopher Stephens, a gold miner from Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo (EBE), whose body was discovered in the Puruni River on Monday.
This is according to Regional Commander for Region Seven, Senior Superintendent, Dion Moore. When contacted by Kaieteur News on Thursday the commander said “the body gone down to town, we doing a post mortem tomorrow (Friday), after the post mortem we will do further investigations.”
Moore then confirmed that two persons are in custody assisting with the investigations. When asked if the suspected murder weapon was found Moore was unable to confirm since it is an active investigation. Police said there was a chop wound on Stephens’ forehead.
Kaieteur News reported that Stephens had informed his brother Kevin Blair that somebody wanted to kill him, a day before he was found dead. “At 12:59 I wake up because my phone ring, when I check is me brother call. Blair told Kaieteur News, while adding that when he answered he heard his brother saying “Kevin somebody want kill me.”
“I say boy who want kill you out deh boy? He ain’t say nothing, he say somebody want kill he and lash he off he bike,” Blair recounted. Tatianna Stephens the sister of the deceased said that her brother was new to the area and she does not believe he had an issue with anyone. “Me brother is na no problem child, he doesn’t pick problem with nobody,” the grieving sister said.
