Guinness Greatest of the Street’ Linden leg
Kaieteur Sports- The quarterfinal stage of the ‘Guinness Greatest of the Streets’ Football Championship concluded on Wednesday in Linden, with Swag Entertainment, YMCA Ballers, Silver Bullet, and DC Ballers booking their spots in the semi-finals.
Swag Entertainment were the first to secure a place in the final four, thanks to back-to-back Guinness Goals from Allan Halley in the 27th minute and Kendolph Lewis in the 28th. Their dominant display sealed a commanding 4-0 victory in front of an energetic crowd.
YMCA Ballers followed suit with a 4-0 thrashing of Team Spaniards. Kymani Price opened the scoring in the 16th minute and quickly doubled the lead two minutes later. As the match neared its close, Jamal Bentick added the icing on the cake with a spectacular Guinness Goal, ensuring YMCA’s smooth passage to the semis.
In another quarterfinal clash, early goals from Colwyn Drakes in the 7th minute and Amoniki Buntin in the 15th propelled Silver Bullet to a 2-0 win over Turf President.
The final semi-final berth went to DC Ballers, who edged LA Ballers 1-0 in a tightly contested encounter. Jayshawn Moore’s decisive strike in the 21st minute sent the crowd into a frenzy and LA Ballers out of the competition.
Semi-final action resumes this Saturday. Silver Bullet will take on DC Ballers in the opening match, followed by Swag Entertainment’s showdown with YMCA Ballers in what promises to be a thrilling semi-final doubleheader.
