Kaieteur Sports- As previously scheduled, the highly anticipated semifinal matchups in the 11th edition of the Milo/Massy Secondary Schools Under-18 Football Championship have been postponed due to persistent inclement weather.
The tournament was expected to determine the two finalists for the 2025 edition on Wednesday. However, both matches were forced to be rescheduled as torrential rain rendered the playing conditions unfit ahead of kickoff.
While an official announcement regarding the new date had not been made at press time, this publication will keep fans updated as soon as the revised schedule is confirmed.
In a brief release, the tournament organisers issued an apology for any inconvenience caused by the postponement. A spokesperson from the Petra Organization stated, “Our team is working assiduously to complete this year’s tournament. Though the situation is beyond our control, we remain hopeful that the weather will improve in the coming days so we can confirm a new date for the Milo/Massy U-18 Football semifinals.”
As a result, the four semifinalists Chase’s Academic Foundation, Charlestown Secondary, Waramuri Top Secondary, and Dolphin Secondary will have to wait a little longer to battle for a spot in the finals.
This year’s tournament is proudly sponsored by Nestlé Milo and Massy Distribution, with additional support from MVP Sports, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, and the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs. The event is sanctioned by the Ministry of Education.
