Kaieteur News- The motorcyclist killed in a crash with a truck on Wednesday along Mandela Avenue, Georgetown has been identified as a Venezuelan Delivery rider, Keiner Hernandez.
Hernandez is a migrant working in Guyana to provide for his mother and family in Venezuela but ended-up losing his life tragically while on duty.
Initial reports are that he was speeding and attempted to ride between two trucks when he collided with one.
His motorcycle was split in two and he did not survive the impact, an acquaintance of Hernandez told Kaieteur News on Thursday.
Police are yet to release an official statement on the fatal accident.
Meanwhile, news of his tragic death has rocked the Venezuelan migrant community in Guyana because he was well known.
Hernandez was described as a great friend. He is also a member of a softball team (baseball), in Guyana formed with the intentions of introducing the sport to the country where cricket and football dominates.
Among themselves, the migrant community is presently trying to raise funds so that his remains can be transported back to Venezuela where his grieving mother awaits to send him off with a Christian funeral.
