Kaieteur Sports-The Tucber Park Cricket Club (TPCC) of New Amsterdam was the recipient of a quantity of Cricket gear compliments of Minister Zulfikar Mustapha.
Minister Mustapha was a part of a governmental delegation led by President Dr Irfan Ali that was in East Berbice Corentyne, Region Six area over the past weekend.

The Tucber Park Cricket Club, which is based at the Berbice High School Ground, is the latest cricket club to be accepted as a full member of the Berbice Cricket Board.
The Club quickly rose up the ranks and acquired first division status and is now rated among the top clubs in the county.
Over the short span of time, the TPCC club has been making tremendous strides and has so far produced a number of top players at all levels for Guyana.
Some has so far gone on to represent the West Indies. Players such as Shamar Joseph, Romario Shepherd and Female Player Tremaine Smart come to mind. Presently the club holds the distinction to having three current Guyana fast bowlers in its line up in Joseph, Shepherd and Nial Smith.
A release from the club states that, “With our robust youth development programme, the gear will no doubt be of immense value to our youngsters as we look to nurture the future of Guyana’s Cricket.”
Mustapha, who is the current Minister of Agriculture, hails from Berbice and has over the years been making contributions to various sports and community-based organization in the county.
A number of other organizations in Region Six also benefited from the Minister’s largess over the weekend – a gesture which underscores the government’s commitment to youth and community development through sports and recreation. (Samuel Whyte)
