Kaieteur Sports- The third week of the East Bank Football Association’s Boys Under-14 League delivered a spectacular showcase of youthful skill, determination, and pure football excitement on Saturday, April 12, 2025. Fans, parents, and supporters gathered in high spirits as the day unfolded with three exhilarating matches that lit up the pitch and solidified the league’s reputation as a breeding ground for future stars.
The day’s action kicked off with a fiery performance from Swan FC, who asserted their dominance with a 6-0 rout of Kuru Kuru FC. The tone was set early by Joel Gilkes, who dazzled the crowd with a sensational hat-trick, finding the net in the 8th, 18th, and 40th minutes. His combination of composure and finishing left defenders scrambling and the crowd roaring. Kevan Charles joined the party with goals in the 37th and 52nd minutes, showcasing his speed and awareness, while Ryan Bostan added a slick finish in the 48th minute to seal the emphatic win.
Despite the scoreline, Kuru Kuru FC displayed admirable courage and perseverance, fighting until the final whistle and earning the respect of all in attendance with their determination and sportsmanship.
In the second clash of the day, league leaders Timehri United once again underlined why they sit proudly at the top of the table. They swept aside Police FC with a confident 4-0 victory, led by the unstoppable Nyron Barrow, who netted a brilliant hat-trick in the 19th, 29th, and 50th minutes. Barrow’s clinical finishing and movement off the ball reaffirmed his status as the tournament’s leading goal scorer and a rising star to watch. Police FC, playing their first match of the season, showed moments of promise and are expected to rebound strongly in the coming weeks.
The final match of the day was a statement of intent from second-placed Herstelling Raiders FC, who delivered a commanding 4-0 win over Agricola FC. The game’s standout moment came from 12-year-old Wayshawn Forde, who wowed the crowd with a sensational left-footed free kick from well outside the box, curling it majestically into the top left corner, leaving the Agricola goalkeeper frozen in awe. Forde’s hat-trick (12th, 43rd, and 58th minutes) was a masterclass in timing, precision, and flair.
Samuel Gaspar opened the scoring in the 4th minute, setting the tone for the Raiders’ dominant performance.
The day concluded with a chorus of applause from the energized crowd, who were treated to an afternoon brimming with passion, talent, and the promise of a bright future for Guyanese football.
