Kaieteur Sports- Two of Guyana’s top golfers, Aleem Hussain and Monnaf Arjune, are set to represent Guyana and the Westside Golf Course at the prestigious Tobago Hospitality & Tourism Institute (THTI) The Taste of Tobago Golf Classic Tournament.
The event will be held at the Magdalena Grand Golf and Beach Resort in Tobago from April 12–13.

The tournament will see 72 golfers from 6 countries competing for top honors and fabulous prizes in an elite two-man Stableford scoring format. The Magdalena Grand Beach Golf Course, renowned for its breathtaking views and challenging layout, will provide the perfect backdrop for this international showdown.
Guyanese golfers have shown competitiveness in regional tournaments over the years, but the top prize has remained elusive—a trend that Guyana Golf Association (GGA) President Aleem Hussain is determined to change.
“Traditionally, Guyanese have not had great opportunities to play high-level golf, but with the renewed emphasis that our Ministries of Education, Sport, and Tourism have placed on the promotion and development of golf and its players in the past few years, we firmly believe our future is bright, especially at the junior levels,” Hussain stated.
Guyana has made significant strides in expanding golf access across the country, notably increasing the number of students taking golf as their Physical Education elective for CSEC examinations.
With thousands of students now gaining exposure to the sport through secondary schools, Hussain is confident that it is only a matter of time before Guyanese golfers claim more accolades on the regional stage.
