Kaieteur Sports – A brilliant all-round effort from Saayad Lakeram guided East Bank to a commanding 8-wicket win over Upper Demerara as part of yesterday’s double-header.
Saayad Lakeram had a good game with bat and ball claiming 4 wickets and finishing unbeaten for his team.
Losing by a hefty margin, Upper Demerara won the toss and chose to bat at the Farm Ground and were skittled out for 69 all out in 22.4 overs with Johnathan Mentore leading his side’s batting (29 3×4).
East Bank bowling was clinical as Saayad Lakeram grabbed 4-17 from 5 overs with Vamol Lall 3-22 and Deonarine Dindial 2-20.
East Bank then surged to 70-2 13.1 overs with Lakeram returning to score 25 not out with help from Yeshua Hutson (18*) and Dindial (13).
Bowling for Upper Demerara, Russco Anderson had 1-26, while Mentore returned 1-12.
Action continues today with Georgetown and Upper Demerara at Transport and West Demerara versus East Bank at Meten-Meer-Zorg Ground.
