Dear editor,
Regarding a shooting incident making the headlines on social, print and electronic media outlets by a member of the Guyana Police Force in Linden, where 26-year-old Ronaldo Peters was shot, and later died, by Sergeant Kendall of the Guyana Police Force, as a resident of Linden, I am calling for a full investigation by the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) of the Guyana Police Force into the conduct of the police, the residents and the family members of the now dead Ronaldo Peters.
The misconduct by the said police is very serious and warrants the attention of the OPR, no uniform, no identification, a black bus, no explanation prior to the incident; just drove up to the shop where the young man was socialising with his friends, shot him, then dragged and threw him in like an animal in the same bus that they arrived in. This whole ordeal is viral across all social media platforms.
Another young Guyanese man has lost his life once again, another family in grief and mourning due to police misconduct.
Yours truly,
Lorenzo Joseph
