Kaieteur News- The 45-year-old man who allegedly raped a 15-year-old schoolgirl whom he offered to take to school, reportedly told her, “People do things that are bad, but it actually helps them.”
The alleged rape occurred on Friday, between 11:00h and 13:00h at Supply, East Bank Demerara (EBD). According to information received, the victim had left her home around 10:50hrs to sit an examination at school. While awaiting a bus, she struggled to find transportation. At that point, the suspect, driving a private car, stopped and offered her a ride, claiming he was headed in the same direction. The victim did not know the man personally, though he was familiar to her family.
As the suspect was driving, he informed the victim that he needed to stop by his farm to check on his chickens. The farm, located in a remote area, is said to be surrounded by dense bushes, with a muddy road leading into it. The young girl, who became skeptical, reportedly told the suspect to drop her off at the head of Supply, and she would take a bus, but the man insisted that she go with him.
Upon arriving at the farm, the suspect stopped at a gate and drove further into the property. He then exited the vehicle to check on the chickens, leaving the victim in the front seat. Upon his return, the suspect then allegedly raped the teen.
The suspect then allegedly offered the child $60,000 to ‘duck the matter.’ Kaieteur News understands that the victim took the money but did not speak. According to information gathered, the suspect reportedly tried to convince the teen that his heinous acts were normal. The alleged rapist has reportedly been giving ‘life advices’ to the victim, in an attempt to distract her from what he did.
Upon dropping her off at a location near her school, the suspect reportedly told the victim that he wanted to see her again on Monday, April 7, 2025. The 15-year-old girl, who was left traumatised, went to school and confided in a friend and a driver who usually picks her up in the morning to take her to school. She then went home and recalled the harrowing details of her rape to her mother.
This publication understands that the suspect is known to the family. According to relatives, they have heard that he has a history of committing such acts. The family is demanding justice as investigations continue. Kaieteur News understands that the suspect has been arrested. The money that was allegedly given to the teen is lodged at the station.
