Kaieteur News- A 35-year-old confectionery vendor was on Monday robbed by two unidentifiable males of his red and black XR motorcycle with registration number CP 2332, valued $495,000.
The victim has been identified as Peter Waldron, a resident of lot 6 Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown. The robbery reportedly occurred around 23:50h on Norton Street, Lodge between Chapel and Victor Streets.
Investigations revealed that the victim typically sells his goods in front of his yard, located on the southern side of the street. He operates from a wooden stall facing north, with his red and black XR motorcycle parked to the east of the stall, facing south. On the day of the incident, the victim was reportedly sitting in front of his stall on a freezer, also facing north, when two suspects approached him from the west.
According to police, the suspects were, “wearing surgical face masks, one of whom was armed with a gun.”
Further, one of the suspects pulled out a dark-colored firearm from his pants and pointed it at Waldron, demanding that he hand over the motorcycle key. When the victim hesitated, the second suspect searched him, retrieved the key from his right pant pocket, and then proceeded to escape on the motorcycle. The armed suspect, who was the pillion rider, fired a shot in the victim’s direction before both suspects fled westward on the motorcycle.
The scene was processed, but no spent shell casings were found. Police said that closed circuit television (CCTV) footages in the area may provide further information. No arrests have yet been made. Investigations are ongoing.
