Kaieteur Sports- With a pledge to stay grounded and give back to his home county, Minister Vickram Bharrat continues to live up to his word. The Minister has pledged to sponsor a two-day coaching clinic in Berbice.
Raised in the town of New Amsterdam where he attended school, Minister Bharrat has been keeping in touch with and giving back to the area where he originated from.
Currently serving as the Minister of Natural Resources, Mr. Vickram Bharrat is a community and sports enthusiast. He would regularly contribute to community development and sports in various ways.
The Minister in collaboration with the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) has pledged to sponsor a two-day coaching session for youths in the Ancient County.
Minister Bharrat has committed full sponsorship for the activity on dates to be finalized by the BCB.
The event was fully ventilated and accepted at the recently held BCB executive committee meeting held at the BCB office in New Amsterdam where a number of decisions were made.
The coaching session will cater for at least 100 U19 youths who are actively playing or interested in playing cricket.
The two days activity will entail all aspects of coaching including theoretical and practical sessions.
Minister Bharrat himself is expected to be on hand to declare the activity open and give pep talks to the participants.
Apart from recognised coaches, the BCB plans to utilise senior players to assist with conducting the activities.
Meals snacks and transportation are expected to be provided for those attending the sessions.
The minister, who is a graduated from the New Amsterdam Multilateral Secondary School and the University of Guyana among other institutions, has served a number of years as an educator, a mentor and an entrepreneur among other aspects.
