Mice and Jermaine $1.4m Futsal underway
Kaieteur Sports- Botafago with a 6-4 pounding of Hi Stars and Silver Shattas overcoming Ward Panthers 7-4 were the order of the night, when the Mice and Jermaine futsal championship began Friday night at the Retrieve Hard Court in Linden.
With attractive prize money on offer, thirteen clubs have entered this tournament which will be played in a round robin format to decide the teams advancing to the quarterfinals.
Botafago were outstanding in the first game of the tournament as they scored a 6-4 win against Hi Stars, as Jamal Haynes and Jashawn Moore both netted twice, with Omar Brewley and Donovan Francis accounting for Botafago’s other goals.
For Hi Stars Keona Lowe netted a double, with Joshua Fleming and Lennox Paul being the other scorers.
Silver Shattas then overwhelmed Ward Panthers 7-4, behind Omar Williams and Jermaine Samuels each netting doubles, and Omar Samuels, Jehu Regis and Jonah Simon getting the other goals.
The scorers for Ward Panthers were Nico Mickle, Paul Trotman and Damian Warner.
The championship winners will get $700,000, runners up $400,000 and third place winners $200,000 and the fourth place team collects $100,000, as the MVP of the final gets a motorcycle.
The main sponsors are Crown Nation Auto Sales, Bella’s Lumber Yard, Scotty’s General Store and Sky Tech.
The semifinal are set for Thursday April 17 and the final is on Saturday April 20, at the tournament venue in Retrieve, Linden.
