-Milerock face Bamia, Hi Stars battle Botafago, Ward Panthers match skills with Silver Shattas
Kaieteur News- With a total $1.4M in cash at stake, thirteen clubs are listed to start their campaign as three group stage clashes in the ‘Mice and Jermaine’ Linden futsal club championship begins tonight (Friday) at 8.00pm at the tournament venue, Retrieve Hard Court, in the mining town of Linden.
Thirteen clubs have entered this tournament which will continue tomorrow (Saturday) night, while the semifinals are set for Thursday, April 17 and the final and third place scheduled for Saturday, April 20, at this venue.
Tournament coordination is Marlon Washington and according to him, it will be a round robin format with two of three clubs advancing from three of the four groups while another two will emerge from another group which has four clubs.
The winning club will take home $700,000 as the beaten finalists will earn $400,000 and third place finishers collect $200,000 and for placing four that club will receive $100,000 and the Player of the Final winning a motorcycle.
Sponsors so far are Scotty’s General Store, Bella’s Lumber Yard, Sky Tech and Crown Nation Auto Sales.
In Group A are Bamia, Milerock and Rockstone, Group B has Hi Stars, Botafago and Coomacka, Group C with Amelia’s Ward Panthers, Silver Shattas and Net Rockers and Group D comprising Haynes and Lewis Winners Connection, Eagles United, Capital FC and Topp XX.
The first game of the tournament tonight is Bamia against Milerock at 8.00pm, followed by Hi Stars tackling Botafago at 9.00pm, while the third will feature Amelia’s Ward Panthers and Silver Shattas.
Three more matches are slated for tomorrow night (Saturday) on day two, starting from 8.00pm.
That first game is Eagles United against Topp XX, second features Capital FC and Winners Connection from 9.00pm, and the last game of the night Net Rockers face Silver Shattas.
The round robin group stage matches will continue next Friday and Saturday to determine the top two teams to advance to the quarterfinals on Saturday, April 12, with the semifinals set for Thursday, April 17 and the final on Saturday, April 20 at the Retrieve Hard Court.
