Kaieteur News- Election season come again, and y’all know wah that mean—politicians flooding de country like rainy season! Dem running all over, shaking hands, kissing babies, and mekking promise pon top ah promise. Some ah dem gon promise heaven and earth, but when de dust settle, all yuh getting is mud.
Some gon try fuh fix problem right deh pon de spot, just fuh show dem doing something. But dem don’t always check if dem even got de means fuh do it. And sometimes, deh end up embarrassing demself bad-bad—just like one PPP politician who visit a hinterland village recently…
PPP politician roll up in deh hinterland like he bringing salvation. Big red jersey, big smile, and bigger promises. He seh he come fuh listen to de people problem and fix dem right away—like how dem always promising dem gon fix dem sugar estate, but we still waiting.
De village leader ain’t waste time. “Bossman, we got two big problems.”
De politician puff up he chest. “Tell me, my brother, wah y’all need?”
“Fuss thing, we got a hospital, but no doctor.”
Right away, PPP man pull out he fancy phone, talking fast-fast like he making big things happen. He pace up and down, nodding and pointing, like he running a whole ministry from de bush. Five minutes later, he put down de phone, grinning broad-broad.
“No worries! A doctor gon reach tomorrow!”
De villagers start clapping. De village leader nod in approval. Then de politician ask, “Alright, what’s de second problem?”
“Well, sir… we ain’t got no phone signal in de whole village.”
Talk half. Leff half.
