SportsMax – West Indies Masters moved to two wins from as many games with an eight-run victory over the England masters in International Masters League T20 action at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai on Thursday.
The West Indies posted 179-6 from their 20 overs after England captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and opted to bowl.
Chris Gayle led the way for the West Indians with the bat with four sixes and three fours on his way to 39 from 19 balls while opening partner Dwayne Smith contributed a 25-ball 35 including four fours and two sixes.
Narsingh Deonarine also played well for his 35* off 23 balls while Ashley Nurse hit two fours and as many sixes to make 29 off just 13 balls batting at number seven.
Left-arm spinner Monty Panesar was excellent with the ball with 3-14 from his four overs while Chris Schofield took 2-21 from his four overs of leg-spin.
Sulieman Benn then starred with two wickets for just 11 runs from his four overs to help restrict the England Masters to 171-8 from their 20 overs.
Phil Mustard made 35 off 19 balls at the top of the order while Chris Schofield contributed 32 from 26 at the back end.
Chris Tremlett (26*) and Stuart Meaker (24) also tried their best to help England over the line but they fell just short in the end.
Pacers Ravi Rampaul and Jerome Taylor also took two wickets, each, in support of Benn.
