Minister of Sports, Charles Ramson Jr. and K&S Co-Director Kashif Muhammad share photo-op with representatives of the remaining sixteen teams to be feature in the Round-of-16 phase of the competition.
Kaieteur Sports – As promised, the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation yesterday conducted a uniform distribution exercise to facilitate the final sixteen teams remaining in the ongoing One Guyana National Futsal Championship. The event was held at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Boardroom, located at the intersection of Quamina and Main Streets.
A team from the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation, along with the Minister of Sports, Charles Ramson Jr., met with representatives of the remaining teams to distribute the uniforms.
At the presentation ceremony, the Minister emphasized that tournaments like this help to connect with communities. He also noted that the government recognizes the valuable contributions of the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation over the years and has reintroduced them to the local football scene. He highlighted that the organisation’s previous involvement in football had elevated the sport to new heights and expressed optimism that the current Futsal Championship would restore football to its former glory. The Minister also hinted at the tournament’s potential to grow into a regional championship and commended all the teams for their achievements so far.
Co-Director of the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation, Kashif Muhammad, echoed similar sentiments, stating that the sixteen remaining teams represent the best of this year’s championship. He also announced that these teams, having advanced in the tournament, will be featured in the upcoming Guyana Energy Conference-sponsored Futsal Championship, scheduled for early next year.
In recent matches, Gold is Money trounced Touches 6-0, while the Spaniards of Linden almost upset one of the well-known city teams. Back Circle ‘B’ defeated California Square 5-2, Team Cruel overcame Paradise Invaders 6-4, Ballers United of Berbice edged North Ruimveldt 3-2, and Albouystown Ballers bested Agricola Ballers 5-2. Road Warriors delivered a commanding performance against Victoria Eagles, securing an impressive 8-3 victory.
The tournament continued last evening with four more thrilling matches at the National Gymnasium. Details of these matches will be provided in a subsequent edition of this publication.
The action is set to move to the newly renovated Cliff Anderson Sports Hall for the remainder of the matches.
