-East Coast secure 152-run win
Kaieteur News- Georgetown and East Coast wrapped up commanding wins when the 2024 Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) Inter-Association Under-15 tournament bowled off recently.
It was a daunting 372-6 which was racked up by Georgetown that put the Select XI under pressure. Nathan Bishop cracked 140 which set up his team’s massive total.
A number of contributions came from Khush Seegobin (42), Makai Dowlin (36), Joshua Bollers (28) Wasim Ali (27*) and Lomar Seecharran (25), who lent ideal support to the centurion Bishop.
It was a horrible bowling outing for the Select XI as Roscoe Anderson (1-17) and Jasani Craig (1-39) were two of four bowlers to grab a wicket each.
Ali then snared amazing figures of 4-5, while Brandon Henry 3-9 and Reyaz Latif (2-10) triggered a collapse as the Select XI were routed for 80 runs in 35.4 overs; leaving Shazid Ramzan (25) and Nathan Puran (12) as the top scorers for their team.
Over at the LBI ground, East Coast handed East Bank a 152 run defeat, after posting 257. Akeem Persaud (52), Junior Dindyal (41), Satindra Shiwdarsan (29), Nathaniel Sukhnandan (28) led the batting.
East Bank’s bowling was led by Jagdesh Kalpoo who grabbed 4-46 and Vinesh Kalpoo 3-74. But their team folded for 105 despite Kalpoo returning to score 53. Somesh Boyer grabbed 4-24 as the star bowler for East Coast.
Action continues today with another-double header with Georgetown battling East Bank at Farm ground while the Select XI tackle West Demerara at the Queen’s College ground from 09:00h each.
