Kaieteur Sports- Demerara Hawks pulled off a tense 3-wicket win yesterday at the Rose Hall Canje Ground, upsetting Essequibo Anacondas when action in the National T20 League continued.
Essequibo Anacondas were kept to 133-8 after their 20 overs expired despite Ushardeva Balgobin (42), Ramnarine Chatura (16), Shaahid Vieira (18) and Keanu Harry (12*).
Hawks’ Ezekiel Wilson grabbed 2-13 while four of his teammates including Chris Harry and Thaddeus Lovell returned just one scalp apiece.
Veteran cricketer Damian Vantull then led all scoring for the Hawks with a composed 40 off 30 featuring three fours and two sixes. Brandon Jaikaran (29), Shemar Yearwood (23), Lovell (15*) and Daniel Ross (11) were the other contributors.
Essequibo Captain Anthony Adams grabbed 3-23 as he tried to stop the inevitable, along with off-spinner Richie Looknauth and Garfield Phillips, who finished with a wicket each.
T20 League cricket continues today with Berbice franchises, Piranhas and Caimans, locking up today from 13:00h.
