Dear Editor,
It is almost 20 years that the Cornelia Ida cricket ground on the West Coast of Demerara is out of order.
Numerous efforts were made by private individuals, club members and the NDC to have it rehabilitated but for one reason to another has not been realised.
The Minister of Sports, Charles Ramson was eventually engaged to help about eight years ago but stops and starts have plagued the project. I am kindly asking the minister to provide an update on the status of the upgrade since we are having excellent weather. It becomes more important because this club keeps providing the national team with players every year in the various categories, be it age group or senior and has been doing so for many years all the time without the use of a playing facility for the past twenty years.
I anxiously await a positive response.
Thanks for providing space to highlight this concern.
Zaheer
