Dear Editor,
I’ll be brief, just to address a few statements made by Mr. Bisram, since I have no intention of giving him anymore relevance than he deserves. Since our exchanges, a number of persons, especially in the New York area, who are knowledgeable of this person’s political past, have supported my contention that he has been and continues to be anti-PPP and anti-Guyana’s indomitable leaders, Cheddi and Janet Jagan and others too many to mention.
His “objective critiques” have shone through like the lights of Diwali. I am certain that Bisram’s comprehension skills would assist him in determining that there is a fundamental difference between amendments to any Constitution as against its “replacement”. The Guyana 1980 Constitution has been amended during the government of the PPP, since 1992.
Bisram must know what is legally required for an entirely new Constitution, and if as he posits, “the Burnham constitution will not be replaced because no politician supports its change” then please let us know how he proposes to having it replaced.
Degrees my friend, never make the man. Common sense, integrity, honesty and such qualities are often more important in determining the character of a person. Bisram started his response by accusing me of “a snide remark”, so I was stunned when he mentioned “some of my pals with bogus degrees”. Be a man, Bisram, and call names.
On the same note, I challenge you to say who, with the authority to do so, made the offer to you to “be a diplomat in Delhi”. As far as I’m aware such offers are done by persons very high up in a government and not in one’s fertile imagination.
You can describe the disgraced High Commissioner to India by any name you choose, but don’t try to fool people about who was responsible for the PPP’s victory at the polls in 2020. It was the people of Guyana who voted for the PPP to be in Government, in 2020.
And despite the confirmed NO VOTE in Parliament, the Coalition ensured through its indecent manoevres, to remain in government for the five years. I remember the event you referred to in New York, but your attempt to claim responsibility for its organization, is disputed by MY friends there, and I’m proud to have “glorified Jagan”. You on the other hand seem disappointed.
For YOUR information Ralph Ramkarran was not” excommunicated from the PPP”. Or is it that you’re not sure of that word (a defect you snidely mentioned of me having). Watch it, your slip is showing. The other parts of his letter are not worthy of comment(s).
I’m certain the Guyanese people are learned enough to determine for themselves who should be believed.
Regards,
Harry N Nawbatt
