Dear Editor,
As I write this letter, I can see myself standing at the Corner of Orange Walk and Church Street or John Ford Car Park.
I was there to listen to a PPP meeting, one of the speakers was Ms. Gail Teixeira. Whenever, Dr. Jagan, Dr. Luncheon or Ms. Teixeira is speaking at a meeting I would be in attendance, I like those people. In her presentation she said if the PPP were elected to Government, they would find a place for vagrants and homeless walking around Georgetown and elsewhere. This brought a loud round of applause by the audience, luckily the PPP did win that election and they stayed twenty-three years in office. But at the end of term, there were more homeless and vagrants and homeless increased furthermore.
Now that President Ali is in office, his hands are filled with other developments, that no one in his cabinet is suggesting to him a solution to problem.
With all spending to beautify Guyana such problem creates a distasteful sight and risks to Guyanese residents and in addition, makes our visitors very uncomfortable.
I am a grandfather of five and it is very embarrassing as well as disappointing to me when I am with my grandchildren and seeing the condition of vagrants walking naked around us.
(Too many vagrants on the streets)
Yours Truly
Frank De Abreu
