Despite struggling with infrastructure issues and the lack of other essential elements, Guyana believes they have a solid chance of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA men’s football World Cup. Guyana is in Group D in the 2026 Concacaf World Cup qualifiers along with Nicaragua, Panama, Belize, and Montserrat.
The Golden Jaguars kicked off their campaign with a disappointing 2-0 loss in Panama City, but they managed to make a comeback in with a glorious 3-1 victory over Belize. Guyana currently ranks third in Group D with three points behind group leaders Nicaragua and Panama with six points each. However, the Golden Jaguars are set to face an in-form Nicaragua away from home on 6th June before welcoming Montserrat on 10th June.
But can Panama manage to upset Nicaragua and Montserrat to secure the much-needed points to qualify for the third round of the 2026 CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers? Here is a preview of Guyana’s last two matches in the second round of the 2026 Concacaf World Cup qualifiers, while unveiling their chances of making it on the international stage.
The French Guiana will continue their Concacaf 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Nicaragua in what’s expected to be a revenge match against the Blue and Whites. Coach Jamaal Shabazz’s side lost 1-0 against Nicaragua in the CONCACAF Nations League on 6th September and will be seeking revenge next year in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
During their last game, Guyana managed to hold the fort against Nicaragua before a last-minute goal from Talavera handed them the defeat. Guyana hopes to win this match against Nicaragua to advance their campaign to qualify for the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, while the Blue and White will hope to replicate their previous performance to exert their dominance in Group D.
Football betting experts on SportyTrader believe that Guyana will finish this game with a 1-1 draw, although Nicaragua has a solid chance of securing a slim win. SportyTrader gives an in-depth analysis of soccer games to help punters make informed betting decisions.
While the Golden Jaguars might struggle to secure a win against Group D leaders Nicaragua, coach Jamaal Shabazz believes they have a strong chance of winning against Monserrat. Coach Shabazz has guided Guyana’s deep run in the World Cup qualifiers during the 2014 iteration in Brazil and hopes to do it once again. However, Guyana struggled to score any goals in their last match against Monseratt to end their clash with a 0-0 draw.
Guyana will welcome the fourth-ranked Monseratt at home on 10th June 2025, hoping to book the much-needed three points in their bid to qualify for the next round. The Golden Jaguars ranks as the favorites for this clash and football experts predict they will secure a narrow 1-0 victory. However, Monserrat might hold them to a goalless draw once again despite losing their last two World Cup qualifying games against Panama and Nicaragua.
