Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my deep concern about the deplorable conditions and inefficient service at the Guyana Police Force’s Eve Leary location, specifically regarding the process of obtaining a police clearance.
The entrance to the compound is in a disgraceful state. During rainy weather, the entire area becomes flooded, making it hazardous and inconvenient for applicants. The inadequate waiting area, consisting of only six benches for a large number of people, is uncomfortable and creates unnecessary stress. Furthermore, I have observed preferential treatment for certain individuals, (once you have connections or links the queue does not apply to that person). While everyone else that sitting on those hard benches in the hut have to watch on. Hence undermining the principle of a fair queuing system.
It is unacceptable that Guyanese citizens must endure such hardships to obtain a simple document. The implementation of an online application system would significantly reduce the burden on the public and improve efficiency.
I urge the Guyana Police Force and the relevant authorities to prioritise addressing these issues. Improving the physical infrastructure, enhancing customer service, and transitioning to an online system are essential steps towards providing a more dignified and efficient service to the public. I am tired of the endless corruption that occurs on a daily basis within the GPF. If you do not have connections, you are bounded to suffer in this country. When will the corruption end!
Regards,
Concerned Citizen.
