GCB U17 50-Over Trials…
– Key players hit form
Kaieteur Sports – The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) trials ended yesterday with an Afraz Budhoo XI victory, but more importantly a much-needed warm up for U-17 stars ahead of the upcoming Regional tournament.
Parmeshwar Ram’s XI took first strike but could only muster 105-6 from the revised 35 overs-per-side.
Carrying his form over from the Inter-Association tournament, wicket-keeper batsman Vishal Wilkinson led his team’s batting charge with 31.
All-rounder Shamar Apple played a useful hand as he supported with 22, capping off a tough batting innings for Rams XI.
Budhoo’s XI bowling was equally divided among; Darwin Joseph, Aston Simmons, Jayden Dowlin, Navendra Sankar, Justin Doobay and Munesh Outar who each took a wicket.
In reply, Budhoo’s XI ended with a modest 110 all out 35 overs. Thierry Henry led with 25, while Devon Walton 22 chipped in with 22.
Wickets went to Danesh Persaud who snared 2-8 and Marcel Nandu who returned 2-9.
Spinners Arun Gainda and Jathniel Nurse along with Udesh Seetaram and Nicholas Lovell finished with a wicket apiece.
