Dear Editor,
It is puzzling: the rehabilitated airstrip at Paruina, was handed over to the Ministry on one day (April 15 2024), but a joint site visit with representatives from the Ministry and contractor was conducted several days later (demerarawaves July 20).
So it has to be asked just what was handed over to the Ministry and just what did it take over? A pig in bag airstrip? Why wasn’t the inspection visit done before taking over the defective airstrip? Somebody must be held to account for this nonsense.
Even though the contractor was ordered to fix the defects, I agree there should be some form of sanctions.
