Dear Editor,
It is good to know that our children are doing better at the NGSA in the two critical subjects of English Language and Mathematics. Of no less significance is the spread of the results which are no longer skewed in favour of few city schools as was the case in past years.
These are indeed significant developments in terms of enhanced delivery of quality education in all regions of Guyana including rural and hinterland schools.
I am particularly pleased that the overall performance of our public schools is showing significant improvements in terms of student attainment levels. This is so for both the National Grade Six Assessment and the Caribbean Secondary Examination Certificate exams for which the PPP/C administration must be commended. Not everyone can afford to send their children to private schools. No child should be left behind because of financial considerations.
Congratulations to all our children who excelled at the recent examinations. And for those who may not have done as well as expected, do not despair. Your academic journey has just started. Always believe in your potential to do better. The sky is the limit.
