Kaieteur Sports – Hope Secondary School clinched the Inter-Secondary Schools Boys Tapeball Independence Cricket Competition title by defeating Beterverwagting (BV) Secondary by 14 runs on Monday at the National Culture Centre Tarmac.
In an all East Coast final, seven schools participated in this prestigious 5-over knockout competition. Batting first, Hope Secondary School set a total of 61 runs against a formidable BV bowling attack. Johnatan Singh led the scoring for Hope Secondary with a resilient 17 runs, helping his team reach 60 all out. Alex Duttendeen was the standout bowler for BV, taking 3 wickets for 13 runs.
BV Secondary, in their turn at the crease, managed only 47 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 5 overs. This effort fell short, securing a well-deserved victory for Hope Secondary, who lifted the championship trophy and received medals sponsored by Metro Supplies & Computer Spares.
BV Secondary was awarded the runner-up trophy, donated by James “Uprising” Lewis. The tournament was coordinated by James Lewis and the Tapeball Academy.
In other news, the GOAPC Inter-Ministries Tapeball tournament, originally scheduled for Saturday, May 25 at the same venue, has been postponed due to heavy rainfall.
