Kaieteur Sports – Fayyaz Hanif, Son of former Guyana first-class wicketkeeper/batsman Azib Alli Hanif, felt short of a ton by one run last Sunday while representing Superstar Colts against Mississauga Ramblers in the continuation of the Toronto and District Cricket Association (T&DCA) Under-16, T20 competition.
Playing at Thackery Park venue in Etobicoke, the right-handed Hanif hammered 11 sixes and tucked away two fours during his 68-ball stay at the crease.
His team replied with 121-7 when the 20-overs ran out after Mississauga Ramblers won the toss and made a challenging 129-8 from the 20-overs.
Apart from the 15-year-old Hanif’s impressive knock, no other batter was able to reach double figures as wickets fell regularly.
Seamer Arham Aziz took 3-7 from four economical overs for the winner while he got good support from Abdullah Parvez who finished with 2-22 in his three overs.
Earlier, Captain Dimitri Ramjatthan led the way for the Ramblers hitting a top-score of 29. He also shared a solid, 69-run opening stand with Assis Singh who contributed a vital 28 and 26 from Abdullah Noor.
Leg-spinner Yash Patel claimed three wickets conceding 14 runs from three frugal overs, delivering for Superstar Colts.
Superstar Colts will be back in action June 9 at the same venue against Oakville Cricket Academy.
Mississauga Ramblers will meet up Vaughan Cricket Club the same day in their fixture at the EG East facility, Etobicoke.
