Kaieteur Sports – Competitive basketball returns to Linden for the first time in two years with the Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) bouncing off its Senior Club Championships among its five affiliated clubs, with a double-header at the Amelia’s Ward Hard Court tonight.
In the first game, Block 22 Flames will match skills with Victory Valley Royals from 6:30 pm and the second match of the night will see Retrieve Raiders taking on home side Amelia’s Ward Jets from 8:30pm.
The tournament will be played in a round-robin format to arrive at the top four clubs that will advance to the semifinals set for Saturday, June 22, and the finale on Saturday, June 29, both at the same venue.
This tournament comes on the heels of LABA’s Secondary Schools Under-17 tournament, which was its first for this year.
The LABA, led by Dawn Barker McCammon, has planned and gained support from former Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) President Nigel Hinds, through the Nigel Hinds Financial Services Group, which has donated $200,000 towards ensuring the tournament is hosted.
