Kaieteur News – The High Court on Wednesday ordered Mikhail Rodrigues popularly known as the “Guyanese Critic to restrain from repeating accusations and defamatory remarks he publicly made against local businessman Azruddin Mohamed.
Information reaching Kaieteur News are that Mohamed through his lawyers Poonai & Poonai filed for the injunction to shut up Critic on Monday May 13, 2024. According to the court order seen by Kaieteur News, Mohamed sought “an injunction restraining the respondents/ defendants (The Guyanese Critic) whether by themselves, servants and/or other agents howsoever from uttering , repeating, posting, printing, sharing, reproducing, broadcasting or otherwise disseminating either by video, audio broadcast, print social media or by other electronic means the offending words utterances statements and publications or words, statements and publications similar to those made by the defendants on Facebook on the 17th of February 2024, 1st of March, 2024 and the 14th of March 2024”.
The application was heard before Justice Navindra Singh on May 14, 2024 and on Wednesday he granted a gag order against the Guyanese Critic and in favour of Mohamed. Rodrigues can file an application to have the order removed but he has until the May 23 to do so. In the meantime should he breach the injunction he can end up in prison for six weeks and pay a fine. The Guyanese Critic had made a number of allegations against the businessman and his father during his morning live shows.
