Kaieteur News – In search of creative handcrafted gift ideas for just about any occasion? Then ‘Crafty Jenny95’ is the place you can shop at. This emerging small business which opened its doors back in August 2021 is owned by 29-year-old Jennifer Bhagwandin.
Bhagwandin, a mother of two in a recent interview with this magazine revealed that the business stemmed from her deep passion for arts and crafts. She further disclosed that she had liked the idea of art and craft since the age of 11.
“I used to be around my mother because she was a nursery school teacher, and she used to make her teaching aids and other craft I used to put a hand in to help her. So that’s how I get the love of arts and crafts,” Bhagwandin expressed.
She related that as she grew older, she began watching a lot of videos on the internet to better her skills. Seeing that she has a knack for it, Bhagwandin said it was her family and friends who inspired and encouraged her to start her own business to showcase her skills.
Bhagwandin remembered that when she first launched, she had made an explosion gift box for a cousin, who then posted it on her social media page, which led to her getting orders from then on. The business started slow, and then it picked up a bit, she recalled.
‘Crafty Jenny95’ just to let you know offers a number of art and crafts items such as handmade gift cards, proxy keychain, explosion gift box, gift boxes just to name a few.
When asked about her support since she opened in 2021, the young woman expressed that it has been overwhelming and growing.
Along her business journey thus far, she related that some of the challenges she faced previously were balancing time between her kids and work. “It was first difficult to concentrate on my crafts. But then I learned to balance my time with my work and kids together,” she affirmed. Bhagwandin assures also that she stands ready to face challenges that may arise because she is destined to see her business move to greater heights.
With that being said, she stated that her long term goal is to go deeper in her work, such as making proxy items like photo frames and more. In all she is aiming to expand her services further.
With a lot yet to unlock at ‘Crafty Jenny’, Bhagwandin is of the view that seeking young people in business, “it helps them with self-control and also to maintain self-discipline.”
She further expressed that a lot can be done locally to expose young entrepreneurs by opening the avenues that can widen the market for them.
“I think what can be done to boost small business it to host more marketing expo not only in the Georgetown but other regions because the more we met new faces and interact with new people even them can open new ideas for us about advertising our product and bring new market to our items,” she suggested.
