Kaieteur Sports – The executive and members (home and aboard) are hereby extending its deepest sympathy and sincerest condolences to the immediate families, relatives, friends and entire Football Fraternity, upon the untimely death of the club’s former Coach and Mentor, Peter Michellin Gulliver, who died on the 22nd day of April, 2024 at the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was hospitalized after a brief bout of illness.
His death would have left the entire Pele FC Family (locally and overseas) in a deep sense of shock, overcome with emotional grief and sadness. While not foregoing Black Pearl also an affiliate of the GFA, along with numerous other ballers that had previously benefited from “Michellins” coaching in various parts of this country. An astute disciplinarian and father figure, the late individual simply “ate, slept and dreamt of Football Coaching, an astounding quality”. Michellin’s previous association with Pele, began in the mid-70s while his coaching career commenced in 1979, with the club’s female team, with a lull in female football thereafter his next assignment was with the club’s male junior players’ where tremendous success was achieved, churning out numerous junior national players many of whom graduated to the senior national lineup.
His defending moment with relief, was his appointment as the Senior Coach, and would have contributed to the club’s rich legger of never being relegated from the first to Second Division, within the GFL\GFA. Additionally, during his tenure as the Senior Head Coach, a significant number of players from the club, also donned national colours. A night of reflection will be held at the GFC Ground, Bourda on the 28th day of April, 2024. A Viewing will be held at the GFC Ground, from 09:00hrs-12:00hrs, followed by the Church Service at the same venue and then to Mahaica Cemetery for burial. It would be remiss of the club not to mention the numerous championship titles that were won under the tutelage of the late Peter “Michellin” Gulliver, moreover at the junior level. May his Soul Rest in Peace.
