Kaieteur Sports – The Milo Under-18 Schools Football tournament’s second round commenced yesterday, featuring thrilling victories for North Ruimveldt (Multilateral) and Dolphin Secondary in the Petra organized 2024 event. Spread across the Ministry of Education (MoE) and Queen’s College (QC) grounds, four intense matches unfolded.
At the MoE grounds, North Ruimveldt (Multilateral) dominated Bushlot Secondary with a 2-0 win in the opening match.
Mickell Mills and Jarrel Smith was electric in the field, each securing a goal for their team.
Mills initiated the scoring early on, netting a crucial goal in the 30th minute to put North in the lead. Smith followed up in the 51st minute, capitalizing on a well-placed cross to secure Multi’s victory.
In match #14, New Amsterdam (Multilateral) displayed resilience, rallying from a 2-0 deficit against Carmel Secondary to secure a 2-2 draw.
Despite Carmel’s early lead with goals from Samuel Ferguson (13’) and Isaiah Barlow (30’), Multi’s Faad Hussein and Teon Williams mounted a comeback in the 42nd and 51st minute, respectively, eventually salvaging a draw for their team.
The final match at the MoE ground ended in a 1-1 draw between Charlestown and East Ruimveldt, with Malcolm Hendricks and Jaheim Kendall each finding the net in the second half.
Meanwhile, at QC ground, Dolphin Secondary triumphed over Leonora Secondary in a gripping encounter. Jason Sandiford and Jamal Williams showcased their prowess with impressive goals in the 29th and 44th minute, securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory for Dolphin.
The excitement continues today, with Bartica, Santa Rosa, and Chase’s Academic Foundation, the tournament favourite, set to showcase their skills from 1:00 pm at the MoE ground.
