Kaieteur News- For Easter Weekend in Guyana all road leads to Lethem Rupununi Rodeo in Region Nine and the Bartica Regatta, Region Seven.
Families prepare for these events days in advance. Kaieteur News was told that thousands travelled to Lethem to take part of the festivities which include the Rodeo Pageant and to witness the best cowboys on show at the ‘Triple R’ Rodeo Ground in Lethem.
Digicel is the title sponsor for this year’s event which kicked off on Friday and will end today.
President Irfaan Ali dropped in at the festivities on Saturday along with some government ministers.
One of the main highlights during president’s visit was the Education Minister attempting the horseback ride challenge.
If you missed the Rodeo then you might thousands more from the coastland on a boat ride to the annual Bartica Regatta.
The Bartica Regatta is a week filled with events from a beauty pageant to football matches. It culminates with a day of fun at Bartica Golden Beach Boulevard where thousands to witness the main event, boat races.
For those travelling to the regatta the Region Seven Community advised that they wear their life jackets travel early and only with registered boats.
