Kaieteur Sports – Ann’s Grove FC faced off against Den Amstel FC in an exciting match that ended in a 1-1 draw, while Fruta Conquerors FC secured a decisive 2-0 victory over Monedderlust FC in Saturday night’s Season Six KFC Elite League action at the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) National Training Centre in Providence, East Bank Demerara.
The opening moments of the March 23 game witnessed a swift goal from Ann’s Grove striker Shaquan Joseph within the first four minutes, only to be answered by Gideon Payne of Den Amstel in the 25th minute, levelling the score.
Despite efforts from both sides to seize the lead, neither could break the deadlock before the final whistle.
In the subsequent match, Fruta Conquerors FC recorded a 2-0 win over Monedderlust FC, courtesy of goals from Makhaya Jarvis in the 5th minute and Shamar Barnes in the 66th minute.
The KFC Elite League was launched on February 25 with Guyana’s top ten clubs competing. Completing the roster of teams are defending champions Guyana Defence Force FC, Guyana Police Force FC, Western Tigers FC, Slingerz FC, Santos FC, Fruta Conquerors FC, Ann’s Grove United FC, Monedderlust FC, Den Amstel and Buxton United FC.
The league has a diverse range of players, including past champions, national players and aspiring talents.
It is a platform for players to exhibit their abilities, vie for selection in national team programmes, pursue scholarships, and even secure contracts with clubs beyond the borders of Guyana.
The GFF continues to encourage fans to support their teams by attending games at the NTC and other venues.
Yesterday Guyana Police Force FC were to take on Ann’s Grove United FC at the GFF National Training Centre, Providence.
