Kaieteur News – Barbados-based Guyanese singer Trenacia ‘TrenAce’ Esseboom is set to release her first album. Her new project titled “Feelings” is a collection of songs inspired by various life experiences. The album features singles like “Nah Complain” and “Choose Happy”, along with other new releases yet to hit the airwaves.
“Nah complain”, the first single and music video from the album features Idea, a dancehall artist. The music video portrays people from various backgrounds enjoying their blessings through life’s trials. “I enjoy the fact, that my music is now able to reach so much further and allows people to relate to it based on their own life experiences,” Esseboom noted.
She explained during a recent interview with The Waterfalls that though she is traditionally known for singing gospel, she has adopted a new genre and style. She shared that her new sound is essentially drawn from a new perspective on life. When she started singing professionally she was just 14 years old, today she is a wife and mother balancing her music career.
Esseboom explained, “If I’m to consider the time between when I started singing and today, I would say that I have matured. I have had life’s challenges thrown at me and I am settled in who I am.”
“I am still known for my gospel music, however, based on my experiences, I am now inspired to make my music more relatable so that I can connect with a larger audience and have a positive impact on their lives.”
To this end, Esseboom said she is embracing other styles of music. She noted nonetheless, “I am still a gospel artist, but one who has stepped out of the proverbial box to allow my music to reach a more diverse audience.” Affirming that she is not afraid of taking chances, Esseboom said her inspiration for this is her desire to connect with a wider cross-section of people.
“Gospel music is a form of inspirational music. However, I believe that Gospel music focuses on the Christian faith, while what we may refer to as inspirational music elevates the listener’s mind without a focus on religion. My music embraces both descriptions and will always encourage positive living,” the singer explained.
Speaking about the work that went into producing the album, Esseboom explained that after connecting with her label Genii Music Group and its founder, Adriel Cumberbatch, she was motivated to take her music to a different level. She explained that it took several months to put the album together. Working with her label, Genii Music Group, Esseboom has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to pull it all together.
“I was truly inspired and I was convinced within myself that the time is now to produce an album. This album will set the bar very high, and I wish to encourage my audience, my listeners and my fans to look out for the collaborations on this album. You are in for a treat,” she said.
With regard to her other responsibilities, the singer turns to multitasking to make it all happen. She noted as a wife and mom to three boys, “At times I just need to prioritize what is needed in the moment. I figure out what is most important and that’s how I get through. If I have to outsource help then I do that, I’m not ashamed to get help when it comes to household duties.”
Esseboom noted nonetheless that whatever role she takes in music will always be her happy place. She said “It’s hard to run away from music when you are the daughter of a Pastor and music is always playing in your home. You’re always singing in church and the congregation so it becomes a part of you. Also for me, it just might be in my genes.”
In the meantime, Esseboom urges her fans and followers to stay tuned and stay connected to her social media handles for the release date of her new album which will be available on all platforms. (IG and Threads: @treniboom, FB: Trenacia Esseboom-Mckend, TikTok: TrenAce)
