Advocacy for Diwali Village has merit

The pandit and former mayor in his letter advocating for a Diwali Village (SN Mar 11), alluded that laudable initiatives such as MoM and the Ramadan Village began under the leadership of the former president. I do not recall this being so. My recollection tells me this is the first Ramadan Village and as for MoM, it was the brainchild of a president, sure enough, but not the former president.

The pandit might be right about Christmas Village, and it has to be wondered if Ramadan Village is not new, why his advocacy for Diwali Village was not made earlier. This by no means negate the advocacy on the merits for Diwali Village, which it is hoped now the seed has been planted, will be pursued and become a reality. Perhaps the good pandit would like to head the planning committee?
