This morning, I witnessed the after effects of an accident whilst traveling to work.
A young boy was lying unconscious on the side of the road whilst his slippers were under a vehicle a few inches from him.
The car that had struck them was lingering on the right side of the road (on the wrong lane).
It seemed to me like the driver tried to overtake. There are two things that I am begging motorists to do and that is to wear your helmet. I believe a harsh penalty should be put forward because the number of deaths due to negligence of the law that is there to protect your safety is seriously ridiculous.
There was a mother lifting an unconscious body from the ground trying to wake him up. And a driver who never thought he would be put into a situation such as this one.
ONE SECOND IS ENOUGH TO KILL A MAN. Every second matters on the road. You can beat the rush hour, but can you beat death? I am pleading Guyana; the law is there for OUR SAFETY.
These persons licences should be completely revoked if found overtaking. I believe that is the only punishment that will allow them second thoughts since a risk of getting into an accident, being badly injured and someone dying doesn’t have that effect.
Speeding does not only kill; speeding prevents you from going home to the loved ones. Think selfishly if you can’t think selflessly.
You’re in a vehicle, a motorist unfortunately doesn’t have a protection barrier such as you do, they do not have an airbag, and they do not have anything to take that impact such as you do.
There has to be more implementations, more serious punishments, more patrol officers. These accidents are one too many. One too many.
