Kaieteur Sports – This afternoon, five Linden basketball clubs have called a meeting from 5.00pm at the Community Hard Court in Retrieve where they will plan for the elections for a new Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) administrative body to overlook the playing of club basketball in the mining town.
These clubs recently decided to seek to correct the non-playing of club basketball for over a year with the expectation that once more club basketball returns.
The clubs which are expected to be at this meeting this afternoon from 5.00pm are Block 22 Flames, Amelia’s Ward Jets, Retrieve Raiders, Kings and Victory Valley Royals.
Tomorrow (Sunday) the elections are to be staged from 3.00pm and each club is entitled to send two representatives to vote at these elections.
There have been concerns about the lack or of competitive club basketball over the past year, which caused a recent meeting among those five clubs where it was unanimously agreed to go ahead and elect a new body to administrate the game in Linden.
